1953 Chevy Wagon

This 1953 Chevy Wagon has been in my family since it was bought new by my Grandfather as a delivery wagon for his grocery store. My Uncle and Cousin had restored and maintained it until it was passed on to me. This is the actual first car I remember riding in as a toddler. I was fascinated by the chrome on the dash, and have been a car nut ever since.

After a lot of thought and conversations, I have decided what direction to go with the restoration of the Wagon. At first, I wanted to preserve the original state of the car, but if I did that, it would be dangerous to drive in today's traffic. In 1953, there were no seat-belts and few other safety devices. I really would like to enjoy the car as it was meant to be.... driving it as much as possible. The plan is to LS Swap a 5.3 from a 2005 Silverado and a 4l60e from a 1997 SIlverado. I will buy a TCI front suspension and weld the kit in place of the original suspension. I have a rear end from a 1967 Camaro SS which the previous owner had installed a full posi unit with 3.08 gears. That will make this Wagon a nice highway cruiser. I will install an aftermarket A/C system, but have not decided which kit to buy. I will rewire the entire car using a Painless wiring kit. I have a set of Ralley Wheels from a 1969 Corvette which are the 10 inch wide ones. For paint, I plan to shoot Seafoam Green on the lower half of the Wagon and off white for the roof. I plan to color match the ralley wheels with the off white, same as the roof.

I plan to start work on the Wagon build sometime in 2026.

The Chevy is 50 years older than my '03 Tahoe pulling it home.
